I spend Thanksgiving in the Marlborough Sounds, and for the first time in my life, I did not overeat for an entire weekend, in fact it was quite the opposite.
Amy and I stayed at a lodge only accessible by boat (or a really really long hike), and while we were aware of the fact that this meant there would be no grocery store nearby, we didn't exactly plan well.
For our two-and-a-half days at the lodge, we brought: a package of risotto with a carrot and a stalk of broccoli, six rolls, four bananas, four museli bars, two servings of Cup-a-Soup and half a package of raisins. Luckily for us, the office at the lodge sold cookies for outrageous amounts of money, and we were able to add some much-needed chocolate to our holiday diet.
So, unlike every other American, Amy and I managed to lose weight this weekend rather than gain it. And although it was the result of poor planning and not some kind of grand dieting scheme, I think we deserve a reward.
Here's a photo from this weekend. Yeah, it was great.
