As of July 31, New Zealand no longer uses a 5 cent piece as currency. Coins come in denominations of $2, $1, 50c, 20c and 10c. If you go to the grocery store and buy a Cadbury candybar for $1.84, you pay only $1.80. If you buy a bag of New Zealand Braeburn Apples for $1.36, you pay $1.40. It's a pretty simple system.
In the US, we can't even get rid of pennies, which most people won't even pick up from the sidewalk. Why is that?

I know your future husband Sam Seaborn wanted to get rid off the penny.
