Amy and I are pretty big nerds, so since Saturday was a beautiful day in Wellington, we decided to find WETA workshop, which is in a neighborhood called Miramar. We walked from Kilbernie, which is quite a ways. We found it eventually, but it really wasn't very exciting - basically just a building with one little sign that said WETA. From there we decided to walk to a place called the Chocolate Fish Cafe, which we had heard was a really fun place and a bit of a tourist attraction. On the map, it didn't look too far away, but as we approached the hills, we realized we were in for a longer and steeper walk than we'd thought.
We eventually reached the cafe, which is in a place called Scorching Bay and is beautiful, with fancy and quaint houses lining the bay, most of them owned by Peter Jackson we were later told. The cafe was really fun and quirky (like lots of places in Wellington) and had great food, but we couldn't linger long because we had a long walk to get home, and the busses didn't run where we were.
After rounding a peninsula and walking through an army base of sorts, our journey ended, only five hours after it began.
So on Sunday, after church, we decided to stay in and relax and listen to the rain and wind. We watched a movie, read and ate a lot of lollies and chocolate.
The weather has been pretty bad since, but at least today it stopped raining. The wind is pretty brutal though. In about half an hour I'm going to go sign the lease for our flat and pick up the key.
